    Nine for 9 – My Top 9 features of Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement Version 9, Part 1: Advanced Find

    We all like lists, right? Of course we do, because we get to focus on the best of the best from experts in a particular field.

    Working with other members of the Hitachi Solutions community, I’ve put together a list. Over the next few weeks, I will release a series of articles detailing the top nine features of Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement version 9, in no particular order…ok, maybe by coolness factor…in reverse because there has to be suspense, right?

    1. Advanced Find Enhancements

    Today, we start at the bottom with #9, which could be nothing else but the enhancements to our great friend, Advanced Find.

    We all use Advanced Find because it is an easy and intuitive way to find the records we need in Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement. With Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement version 9, that intuitiveness just got more intuitive with the addition of the “Not In” option for your queries.

    Yep, version 9 allows users to build “Not In” queries using the ‘Does not contain data’ option. This powerful new enhancement is a game changer because now we can go get data the way we think about data, greatly increasing our ability to analyze, summarize, or aggregate data at any time, from many different perspectives.

    How does it work? Say you need a list of accounts that do not have any related contacts – let’s see how it works:

    1. Open Advanced Find.
    2. Select a record type (entity) in the Look for: field.
      1. Select Accounts
    3. Click Select to define search criteria.
      1. Select Contacts (Company Name)
      2. Select Does Not Contain Data as the relational operator

    Note: Once “Does Not Contain Data” is selected, any further conditions cannot be added.

    1. Click Results.

    This query will return all Accounts that have no related Contacts.
